Crown Estate Scotland has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainable Development and Delivery Manager to join our team on an 18-month fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

About the role

The successful candidate/s for this new role within the organisation will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and developing new sustainable development partnership proposals in line with the Corporate Plan, annual business and Strategic Management Plan (SMP). 
  • Managing the delivery of key projects, initiatives and partnerships that fall within the Sustainable Development and Delivery function lead. This will include acting as a lead representative for CES on local management projects and coordinating development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities. 
  • Working pro-actively to mobilise new initiatives. This will include managing a number of sustainable development partnership projects across Crown Estate Scotland's business, providing support in relation to scoping of initiatives, helping to progress these projects in accordance with internal processes, Crown Estate Scotland's wider value obligations, and the requirements of Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM). 
  • Protecting and enhancing our reputation through pro-active and effective engagement in different stakeholder fora. 
  • Acting with high levels of discretion and demonstrating emotional intelligence in resolving or deciding where to escalate any areas of concern along with suitable solutions and delivering difficult messages. 
  • Carrying out/coordinating stakeholder consultations, satisfaction surveys and reviews. 
  • Monitoring performance against agreed targets or outcomes and flag potential issues. Respond to incoming enquiries in an effective and timely manner, managing issues and reputational risks including any perceived/potential conflicts of interest. 
  • Maintaining internal logs and trackers. 

 

The contractual working location of this role is our Glenlivet office.  However, we believe work is something you do, not a place you go to, and we are committed to supporting employees to work flexibly and in a way that suits their role and preferences. 

The starting salary will be £46,934 with potential for future progression as well as eligibility of annual cost of living rises.  The maximum salary for this role is currently £54,489.  The role also benefits from 25 days’ annual leave, increasing to 30 days after four years’ service, plus 11.5 of public/ privilege days.  Crown Estate Scotland encourage flexible working and operate a discretionary flexi-time scheme.  This role offers participation in the Civil Service pension scheme.

About You

You should:

  • Educated to undergraduate degree level or equivalent in a subject relevant to Crown Estate Scotland's business areas and/or community development. 
  • At least five years relevant experience, including at least three years' experience of working with communities, in relevant activities such as rural land use, energy, built development, river salmon fishing, aquaculture or coastal/ maritime. 
  • Experience of preparing or reviewing business plans in relevant sector. 
  • Basic knowledge of investment approaches relevant to communities and/ or Crown Estate Scotland's activities. 
  • Experience in managing grants or other funds with due regard to governance and appropriate processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of commercial estate, property or marine management, ideally with emphasis or expertise in one or more of Crown Estate Scotland's business sectors. 
  • Experience of delivering projects in accordance with project management principles. 
  • Awareness of terrestrial and/or offshore planning, development, policy and legal contexts.

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Political acumen and awareness. 
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills and the ability to identify key points on any issue and translate these into clear, succinct messages in plain English. 
  • Knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation. 
  • Numerate and competent user of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Delivering difficult messages within a political environment.
