Policy Manager

About the role
The successful candidate/s for this new role within the organisation will be responsible for:
- Ensure internal advice and support is provided on policy, planning and consenting issues in relation to Crown Estate Scotland’s marine business activities, including energy and aquaculture.
- Lead on sector and government engagement to ensure the organisation has a strong understanding of developments in marine planning and the marine environment, including representing Crown Estate Scotland on relevant external forums and working groups.
- Lead on work related to Crown Estate Scotland consultations and impact assessments, and develop responses to other organisations’ consultations
- Support management of third party suppliers in relation to specific projects
The contractual working location of this role is our Edinburgh office. However, we believe work is something you do, not a place you go to, and we are committed to supporting employees to work flexibly and in a way that suits their role and preferences.
The starting salary will be £ 63,512 with potential for future progression as well as eligibility of annual cost of living rises. The maximum salary for this role is currently £73,736. The role also benefits from 25 days’ annual leave, increasing to 30 days after four years’ service, plus 11.5 of public/ privilege days. Crown Estate Scotland encourage flexible working and operate a discretionary flexi-time scheme. This role offers participation in the Civil Service pension scheme.

About You
You should:
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. Marine Policy, Environmental Management or Environmental Economics.
- Knowledge of the consenting framework for marine projects in Scotland and of the associated terrestrial planning and policy framework.
- Knowledge of the offshore renewable energy industry and emerging low carbon technologies.
- Knowledge of marine stakeholders in Scotland.
- Evidence of an ongoing commitment to CPD
- Experience of supporting policy development and project management.
- Experience of preparing responses to government consultations.
- Experience in successful stakeholder engagement, reputation and issues management.
